Embracing seasonal traditions and indulging in festive flavours helps to make each shortened day a pleasure. Roasting chestnuts may have fallen by the wayside for most, but pumpkin spice lattes are a modern equivalent we’re loving to make at home. Following this simple recipe is a soothing and cosy activity, and results in the perfect warming beverage for bonfire night celebrations. Another reason we love to sip on these delicious lattes at this time of year is the seasonal abundance of pumpkin. If you’ve carved a pumpkin for Halloween, you can easily make your own purée from the excess at home if you have a little extra time.

What you'll need...

2 tsp pumpkin purée
pinch of ground cinnamon, plus extra to sprinkle on top (or use a pumpkin spice blend)
pinch of ground ginger
pinch of ground nutmeg
30ml espresso or strong coffee
250ml milk (any variation will work, though we recommend oat for added creaminess)

And what to do...

Step One
Place your pumpkin purée in a large heatproof glass or mug. Whisk in the spices and espresso or strong coffee.

Step Two
Heat your chosen milk in a saucepan over low heat until it froths and steams. Pour it into the glass or mug over your spiced pumpkin, and spoon over any froth on top. Stir to combine, then dust with more cinnamon or some pumpkin spice mix before serving. To impress guests or simply please your senses, add a cinnamon stick garnish for added flavour and flair.
